The Chilliwack Society for Community Living (CSCL) developed the ILO Program in 2001 and saw the first individual placed in a Caregiver's home in February 2002. The closest comparison for this program would be that of Home Sharing Providers; the difference being that the ILO Caregiver is under contract with the CSCL, while a Home Sharing Provider contracts directly with Community Living British Columbia (CLBC).
Individualized Living Options program is operated under the Individual and Family Services Department of the CSCL and is available to adults with a developmental disability who meet CLBC’s eligibility criteria. The program has seen significant growth over the last couple of years.
The philosophy of the ILO program is that people are happiest when they feel they are valued, and an integral member of a family unit. This is the cornerstone of the program.
