The Independent Living Program (ILP) program provides part time support to people who are living in their own homes (usually apartments) in the community.
Staff visit people regularly to teach and assist with a variety of domestic life skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, money management, organization, safety, etc. Once a week we host a small group at our Community Kitchen to prepare healthy recipes and enjoy the meal together.
We also assist people in accessing the services, resources and activities in the community. We attempt to balance work and play by offering leisure time activities through the Drop Zone drop in centre and individually. Many of the people in ILP are also involved with the Chilliwack People First group which meets monthly to address self advocacy issues, community involvement and to socialize.
2008 is our 20th anniversary of supporting people in the community and during that time we have assisted over 65 people.
