CSCL provides many in house training opportunities to full time, part time and casual employees. The training includes:
Core 1: Core 1 presents a history of society's treatment of persons with developmental disabilities and how this history influences our practice.
Core 2: Core 2 provides an opportunity for staff to enhance their understanding of self concept, personality preferences, learning styles and perception.
Orientation Day: All new employees are provided with a day long general orientation to CSCL within the first 6 months of their employment. Topics include: CSCL's History, Organizational Overview, Philosophy of Support, Individual Rights, Right Relationship, Accreditation, and Privacy.
CPI (Non Violent Crisis Intervention): All employees are provided with CPI certification. This training provides employees with the skills to confidently resolve potentially violent crisis. This training is facilitated by CSCL staff that has been certified by the Crisis Prevention Institute.
Annual Staff Training Day: Staff Training day is an annual training provided to all employees. Topics include Individual Rights, Conflict Resolution, Harassment prevention, Accreditation, Abuse and Neglect and Duty to Report. External facilitators also provide training on such topics as "Generations in the Workplace" "the Joy of Working" and "Laughter in the Workplace".
First Aid and CPR: Recertification is provided to all existing employees through local contractors.
